Comments from the original taper :"This is definitely Megadeth from the Country Club in Reseda, California. Most likely, this was taken from my analog cassette master, which was allowed to be taped by Dave Mustaine and Dave Ellefson at the show itself. Good God, I had no idea this was circulating as a bootleg cd!
This is an audience recording, not a soundboard. This was the final swing through Southern California on the Killing Is My Business (1st album) tour. Second guitar player at this show is a guy named Mike Albert, formerly of the Captain Beefheart band. Mike never made it to any official recordings for Megadeth. He was basically the substitute while Chris Poland came and went as he chose during this period prior to Peace Sells. Mike was a Native American who did not fit the look or vibe of Megadeth, but shredded on the guitar like no tomorrow. A great player, sadly overlooked in the metal scheme of things. I still have the analog master of this show. I lived just a couple of miles away in Northridge at this time. I drove down to the the show, went backstage and proceeded to smoke up Dave (Mustaine) and Dave (Ellefson) to some killer Thai bud. They were doing an interview with some ladies from Metal Hammer magazine, then exclusively printed in the German language. The women didn't care to smoke, so they passed. Security came by at the time of the venue closing post-soundcheck to open for the public and both Daves said I was cool and to allow me to stay in. At this point, I got to head out and pick a table from which to record the show at. Looking at the stage, I was on the left hand side, just slightly left of center. I was allowed to set up on the table top with the mics directly facing the stage. The show was not sold out, but the room was nicely filled (about 1,000 out of 1,500.) I do not recall the equipment I had. It was stereo and it was analog. Soundboards from the Country Club back then were not much better than audience tapes, so you're really not missing a lot as far as quality." Probably it's the best '85 boot soundwise, just a touch of hiss is here. Awesome early Megadeth. This is Mike Albert's last show with the band on the killing for a living tour. Chris Poland was in and out of the band during this tour and Albert was a great metal guitarist. Mustaine is his usual self here, with some outstanding vocals. A really great early show.
